Last evening my machine was humming because I was in a race to beat the sunset. I wanted to capture a decent photo of the quilt top before the light escaped. It's a tricky game to play, as my son says, but I'm thankful that I won. :)
The top measures about 51" x 68" or so. I'm pleased that the top is done, just as June comes to a close. Hurray for finishing the top! Boo for June being done. (It's one of my favorite months!)
I had another finish this week....a pair of Maine Morning Mitts. Knitting hand warmers in June is totally reasonable, right? My daughter actually wore them for a few days. Silly girl!
They are for my daughter and she LOVES them. Also, she was a willing model and the last photo was her idea. It was a lot of fun to photograph them with her!
The pattern is Maine Morning Mitts, which can be found here.
Yarn is by The Yarns of Rhichard DeVrieze. The colorway is Kimberly. (Worsted weight, knit on size 7 needles.)
Tomorrow is July 1 and I decided that I am going to revisit my one a day pincushion challenge. I had so much fun with it last year and I'm super excited to try it again. I hope you enjoy following along!

Your quilt is bright and perky! How about "crosswalks"? It reminds me of city blocks from above and your scrappy rectangles are the crosswalks.

The fingerless gloves are the best! I use a pair because of the a/c at work is SO cold but I still need to type. I am sure I could find some sales for you . . . ~smile~ Roseanne P.S. ReplyDeleteI have loved seeing all the versions of your quilt online, and have fabric for my own version after I finish my niece's graduation quilt. The red and white polka dot fabrics remind me of Minnie Mouse... and Minnie sounds like "many"... and since you used many scraps in the quilt, I would name it Minnie Scraps. ;-) Looking forward to the daily pincushions!!!

my daughter sits very close to the A/C vent at work with no way of moving her desk - she has some short hand gloves like that I crocheted for her that she uses all summer long - some people laugh but then when they see how cold she gets they try to come up with ways she could move her space too only to see she can't. she actually has a space heater under her desk to warm up now and then (the vent is on the ceiling so can not shut it as it is for an area more than her space)

ReplyDeleteIt looks like "Independence" would be an appropriate name. It is made for the 4th of July - our Independence Day - and the red white and blue used are independent versions of the traditional red, white and blue colors.

My background is a turquoise batik with what looks like fireworks all over it so there will be no problem naming mine "String-a-long Fireworks". Thanks for sharing your pattern in a sew-a-long.
